Postdoctoral position in Logical aspects of rationality and knowledge – Ref. No. 2025/5

Postdoctoral position is available within the research activity Logical aspects of rationality and knowledge of the TRUST project, funded by the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. The successful candidate will work within the LogICS group as a part of the Department of Theoretical Computer Science, Institute of Computer Science of the Czech Academy of Sciences.

The successful candidate will be capable of independent research work and will be expected to carry out research within the indicated research activity, in formal logic and its applications with an emphasis on one or more of the following:

  • Non-classical logics (paraconsistent logics, many-valued logics, logics with information-based semantics)
  • Reasoning under uncertainty

TRUST is a large-scale project focused on science, rationality, logic, information society and new technologies. A readiness to interact with other team members and an openness to cooperation will be viewed as a strong plus of the candidate.

Conditions:

  • Contract for 18 months, with possibility of extension in case of excellent record.
  • Default start: July 2025.
  • Monthly gross salary approx 50000 CZK plus employee bonuses.
  • Travel funding for conferences and research stays is available.
  • No teaching duties.
  • First cut-off point for applications is March 31, 2025. Applications arriving after that date will continue to be considered until the position is filled.

Applicants shoud:

  • Hold a PhD in relevant area or expect to obtain one by the starting date.
  • Have a strong background in logic, preferably nonclassical and modal logic.
  • Be fluent in English.
