Institute of Computer science at the Science Fair 2026

Computer science is not just about computers. At the stand of the Institute of Computer Science, you can explore what can be revealed from data, how our attention works, and how simple rules give rise to unexpected complexity. Can something complex and beautiful emerge from a few simple rules? Come and find out!

You'll experiment with simple algorithms, tweak a few numbers – and before you know it, unexpected patterns, reminiscent of nature and digital art will begin to take shape. Plus, you'll get to take your own original design home with you as a postcard.

You'll also discover just how much everyday data can reveal about us. Answer a few seemingly innocuous questions – a statistical model can use them to estimate things we didn't even ask you directly. You'll be surprised by the connections hidden within the data.

How is the way we process information changing? Put on special glasses that track eye movement and see how our attention differs when we're reading intently versus when we're mindlessly scrolling through social media.

We look forward to seeing you in Hall 2, stand No. 2 of the Institute of Computer Science CAS – come join us to play, explore, and ask questions.
