This conference is supported by GAMM (Gesellschaft für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik), AV CR (Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic), it has been endorsed by ILAS (The International Linear Algebra Society), and it is organized in cooperation with the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM), SIAM Activity Group on Linear Algebra (SIAG/LA).

Following two previous highly successful meetings in computational methods with applications held in Milovy in previous years 1997 and 2002, we will organize

from August 19th to 25th, 2007
the third meeting under the name HARRACHOV 2007. We wish to continue in the tradition to follow the friendly and stimulating atmosphere of the previous events. In particular we will combine an intense scientific program based on the well-balanced choice of invited plenary talks by distinguished scientists with parallel sessions of contributed talks. We assume that sufficiently long afternoon breaks will allow a lot of discussions and interactions among participants. The program will be planned for full five days Monday through Friday (arrival Sunday afternoon, departure Saturday morning) with Wednesday afternoon devoted to a trip. Thursday afternoon and Friday will be mostly devoted to lectures of the special event,

The 7th GAMM Workshop on Applied and Numerical Linear Algebra,
coorganized with GAMM (Gesellschaft für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik). The previous workshops took place in Berlin (2001), Bielefeld (2002), Braunschweig (2003), Hagen (2004), Dresden (2005) and Duesseldorf (2006).

Scientific Programme:

As in the previous meetings, the program concentrate on computational methods, namely on methods of numerical linear algebra, their sequential and parallel implementations and related applications. Since a considerable part of such applications arise from numerical solution of partial differential equations, we will support interactions with application fields by partnership with the series of meetings ALGORITMY which started with the 17th meeting of this series, ALGORITMY 2005 in Podbanske in 2005 and which was organized by the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Slovak University of Technology, Bratislava, and by collaboration with the Necas Center for Mathematical Modelling, Charles University in Prague.

Conference Venue:

The meeting will be held at the hotel Sklar (literally "Glassmaker") which is located in the Giant Mountains resort Harrachov. The hotel offers modern conference facilities and a lot of indoor and outdoor activities. The transportation from and to Prague (approximately 100 kilometers or 65 miles) will be provided by conference buses on August 19th and August 25th, respectively. The place is close to the border with Germany and Poland and it is easily accessible by car from Zittau (70 km, 50 miles) and Jelenia Gora (35 km, 20 miles).
